Today, we proudly join the global community in marking International Women’s Day — a moment to celebrate the achievements, leadership, and resilience of women everywhere, and to reaffirm our commitment to advancing equity in every aspect of society.

Women are at the heart of our professions. Across midwifery and nursing care services,  education, and research, women drive excellence, safeguard wellbeing, and lead positive change for communities both locally and internationally. We recognise and deeply value the dedication, skill, and compassion that women contribute every day.

This year’s theme ‘Rights, Justice and Action’ reminds us that equality is not only a principle we uphold, but a responsibility we share. Ensuring that every woman — whether a colleague, student, or service user — is respected, heard, and supported is essential to delivering safe, high‑quality care. It also strengthens our workplaces, enriches our professional culture, and builds healthier futures for all.

While we celebrate progress, we also acknowledge the work still ahead. Barriers to opportunity and representation persist, and addressing them requires sustained action, strong advocacy, and collaboration across sectors and borders. We remain committed to championing women’s rights, challenging inequality, and creating environments where every woman can thrive.

On this International Women’s Day, we honour the remarkable women within our organisation and across the wider professional community. Your contributions shape the present and future of our fields, and we thank you for your leadership, your expertise, and your unwavering commitment to improving lives.
