EFNNMA

As we welcome a new year, we want to begin with a deep and heartfelt thank you. Every milestone the EFNNMA reaches, every policy statement delivered to the WHO, every educational standard advanced, and every cross-border partnership forged, happens because of the relentless dedication, solidarity, and professional courage of our National Associations. You are the heartbeat of this Forum, and your commitment to defending the interests of nurses and midwives across the Region continues to inspire our mission daily.

This year, EFNNMA stands at a critical inflection point. Across the European Region, nurses and midwives are not just delivering care; they are holding fragile health systems together, ensuring the continuity of care from hospitals to homes, and driving the agenda for Universal Health Coverage. Our role—as an independent Forum of nursing and midwifery professional organizations—is to champion this reality, elevate our collective political influence, and ensure our voice is heard where decisions are made.

In the year ahead, EFNNMA will continue to expand its diplomatic footprint and strengthen our network of independent professional bodies.

We start 2026 stronger than ever, uniting National Associations from across the WHO European Region.

  • From our strategic dialogues with the WHO Regional Office for Europe,
  • To our work in strengthening Primary Health Care and community nursing and midwifery,
  • To our defense of self-regulation and autonomous governance,

We are building a unified and powerful platform that demonstrates one clear truth:

Nursing and Midwifery leadership is not optional: it is the prerequisite for a healthy European Region. EFNNMA is the organization leading that charge.

Thank you for bringing your expertise, your local perspective, and your unwavering advocacy to this Forum. Together, we will continue shaping a region where nurses and midwives are recognized not just as caregivers, but as the architects of sustainable health systems.

Here’s to a year of unity, independence, and impact.

With appreciation and solidarity,

EFNNMA
